Anti Doping

All athletes have the right to compete in sport knowing that they, and their competitors, are clean.

We at British Taekwondo Council believe in clean ‘Taekwondo’ and work in partnership with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and our International Federations to ensure that the integrity of Taekwondo is protected.

BTC members participating in 'Fighting Chance' opportunities for possible selection to the GB Taekwondo Talent Pathway must ensure that they, their coaches and their ASPs (Athlete Support Personnel, eg parents/guardians) are fully aware and compliant with all UKAD and WADA Rules.

The use of performance-enhancing drugs and other doping behaviour severely damages the legitimacy of sport and undermines the integrity of clean athletes.

Deemed (or inferred) Consent

The UK Anti-Doping Rules apply to all participants of Taekwondo, including Minors, and they make all participants subject to drug Testing. For the purposes of those rules, consent of a parent or guardian to the Testing of a Minor is deemed to follow automatically from the fact that the Minor has been permitted by their parent or guardian to participate in Taekwondo. Therefore, any Minors participating in the sport may be subject to drug Testing. Information on the testing process is available in the Introduction to Testing section of UKAD’s website.

All participants at BTC Championships should note the Anti-Doping statement in the Competitor Declaration in the Event Entry Form.

Anti-Doping Rules

British Taekwondo Council adopt the UK Anti-Doping Rules as published by UK Anti-Doping (or its successor), as amended from time to time. Such rules shall take effect and be construed as the rules of British Taekwondo Council to which all athletes, coaches and athlete support personnel must abide. The UK Anti-Doping rules adopted by British Taekwondo Council govern anti-doping within the UK and are consistent with the World Anti-Doping Code (2021 Code), which governs anti-doping internationally.

You can find the UK Anti-Doping Rules here.

If you are a member of British Taekwondo Council the anti-doping rules apply to you, regardless of the level at which you participate.
